The SSMHA and GMHA are proud to deliver Minor Hockey programs for residents of the Southern Shore and the Goulds.
Registration will be online starting on September 5, 2022, and can be accessed by clicking the register links beside each respective association at the bottom of this page. Payments will be accepted via credit card and EMT when you are registering online via the Hockey Canada/Spordle portal. If you require financial assistance, there is a list of organizations at the bottom of this page that provide grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in minor hockey and other sports.
In addition to our Minor hockey programs, we will be offering optional pre-season programming including NL Growler's Sweat Camps!. These will provide players an opportunity to obtain extra ice time prior to tryouts and the start of the regular season.
The Respect in Sport Parent Program is an effective and informative online training program for parents of active children and promotes key values in providing a positive, safe and respectful environment for all participants in sport. It is MANDATORY for one parent/guardian per family to complete the course. Parents who have completed the course in previous seasons, need not complete it again.
For more information and to complete the course visit: https://hnlparent.respectgroupinc.com
We always need individuals to help deliver our programs and share their talents and love of hockey. To sign up to be a coach, please visit the Applications tab on our website or follow this link for a step-by-step process.

All volunteers are required to have a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check completed (valid for 3 seasons) as well as an HNL Screening Application (valid for 3 years).
We also continue to encourage the participation of our young members in our Junior Coaching program. We believe it is important to encourage our more experienced young adults to share their hockey skills and enthusiastically contribute to our community. This has been a very successful and rewarding program and we look forward to further developing the program during this hockey season.
As mentioned, forms are provided under the Applications tab. The application is free of charge provided you have a volunteer signed from your association confirming you volunteer there.
We are very excited to start this hockey season and hope to see you at the rink!
