This year will see a change to our U18 program. We will be merging the SSMHA and GMHA U18 groups, similar to what we do for our U11, U13, and U15 programs.
Over the past few seasons, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on our programming, specifically, the U18 program, and both the SSMHA and GMHA executives have been working in the off-season to improve this experience.
It is so important that the players have fun with their friends and have good memories of their final years of minor hockey. Merging the two associations for this age group allows all players to continue to enjoy being teammates with their friends from each association, rather than separating them in their final years of minor hockey. It also helps to ensure parity across all of the teams as best we can.
We are working with the IHL (Interlocking House League) and other minor hockey associations to establish a U18 division this year and are hoping to have a meeting on it next week. We will let you know when more information becomes available.
